چکیده
This paper presents the numerical simulations of flow and dam body sediment transport over a movable bed due to an earthfill break. The RANS equations, together with k-ω SST turbulent model, are employed. phase characteristic parameter is used as phases air, water, sediment, bulk body. system equations solved numerically using PISO algorithm. model first verified break experimental data from literature. successfully captures temporal changes in measured depths, pressures, wave fronts, arrival times. then applied simulate result artificial having obstacle at its downstream section. show that there noticeable decrease shock pressures all points around increase water levels. moves while spreading. It takes longer time for laden reach obstacle. investigation formed by different soils shows soil type has minor effect can raise levels change morphology

Two-dimensional dam-break simulation over movable beds with an unstructured mesh
This paper reports the application of a two-dimensional (2D) depth-averaged model to dam break flows over alluvial sand beds with an initial bed step. The model applies the Finite Element Method to discretize the computational domain using an unstructured mesh made of triangular elements. Two downstream boundary conditions were tested: zero (dry) and non-zero (wet) initial water depths. The mod...
متن کاملExperimental Investigation of Flash Flood Resulting from Dam-Break on Bed Sediment Transport
Varied flows such as flooding resulting from dam break can happen due to earthquakes, seepage, bombing, overtopping, mistake in design and project performance as well as causing financial damages and human losses. Unsteady flow during flooding events has a high impact on flow field pattern, sediment motion, ecology and also, distribution of contamination in the river. In this study, the impact ...
متن کاملNumerical simulation of flood wave propagation due to failure of dam watersheds in fluent model
By numerical simulation of the phenomenon of failure of dams and the flow of their flow, it is possible to design more precisely the structures and their location. The purpose of this study was to investigate the wave propagation phenomenon due to the failure of the rocky mortar-watering dam in the Marivan sub-basin of Zarivar in two-dimensional and three-dimensional models using the Fluent mod...
متن کاملHuman Life Saving by Simulation of Dam Break Using Flow-3d (a Case Study: Upper Gotvand Dam)
Dam break analysis plays a very important role in the risk assessment of dams. Large dams pose significantly higher risks to the people and property downstream of the dam as compared to smaller dams. So the flooding risk due to the possible failure of large dams is more crucial. The simulation of exceptional events characterized by high hydraulic and hydro-geologic risk is an actual problem for...
متن کاملBreak fill-dam simulation using GeoStudio (case study: Safarood earth dam, Kerman)
One of the main reason of earth-dam breaks is inner erosion which is caused by washing fine soil particles and finally lead to seepage inside the dam. Seepage will decrease effective tension in the earth-dam's core and arching phenomena is occurred. More settlement of core than to shell is the consequence of arching and occurrence of cracking. In this paper, GeoStudio software based on finite e...
